O Christmas Tree [Dec. 21st, 2009|09:29 pm]

tzel
[mood | sore]

Since moving in we have dug out a working bedroom, kitchen, tv area and one fully functional bathroom.
The snow was both inconvenient and helpful. Helpful because The Taciturn Ranger and I were able to beat another room, the dining room/salon area, into functionality and inconvenient because I was supposed to be getting the last bits from the old house and cleaning the bathrooms. Hopefully I can get most of that taken care of tonight.

The snow did get me more in the Christmas mood so once we had sort of set up the Salon/Dining Room I put up the black and purple Christmas Tree the Taciturn Mom gave me. I expected this thing to be lighter, brighter and shinier but it is the Gothiest Christmas Tree What Ever Gothed. I kid you not. It is black limned in vibrant purple, photos are insufficient. I haven't put any ornaments on it and the thing came pre-lit so, hey, a little spirit for very little effort. I got some presents wrapped yesterday and put them under the tree so, yeah, with the snow outside and the tree inside and us being able to eat at the dinner table, it was very warm and homey.

Sunday, however, was mostly about The Hell of the Snow Shoveling Sinners. I don't care if this is the last snow like this we have for five years; I am buying a snow blower. The Old and The Gimpy should not shovel snow like that. Also, I will remember to park at the end of the driveway closest to the street when they are calling for snow. Our capacious driveway is a pain to shovel and even with both of us busting our butts it took The Ranger and I half the day to dig out.

I had been toying with the idea of treating myself to a massage from Reve in the New Year once all the lifting and toting and touch up painting and trim work is done. After shoveling snow for four hours it seems more a necessity than an indulgence. Deep tissue is $80 for one hour, which isn't bad, but for $10 more I can get this:

Reve Deluxe Massage
This massage is used to target specific areas of muscle tightness and fatigue. It completely caterers to your needs. We combine traditional Swedish, pressure point, and relaxation techniques with added emphasis on select problem areas using different levels of pressure for a truly unique and delightful experience. 60mins $90

Now, if I manage to sell some stuff or something, I may indulge in this if they allow non-dad's to get the same package:

#1 Dad Package
1 hour Reve Deluxe Massage, 1 hour Classic European Facial, Deluxe Manicure & Pedicure
$210

More than likely though it will be whatever kind of massage is on special in January. *smirk*

Christmas Tauntauns [Dec. 15th, 2009|09:20 pm]

Yeah, I may be exhausted and not feeling the spirit, but it's time to share this like I do every year:

Christmas Tauntauns

I can't watch this without misting up.

Murphy's Law [Dec. 15th, 2009|08:34 pm]

[mood | blah]

Thanks to everyone that helped with the move. We're feeling kind of buried under our stuff and the fact that Christmas is a week and a half away does not seem real. I think Christmas is going to barely be a blip on the radar this year. I wonder if I will manage to put up a tree...

Murphy's Law struck this morning when the water heater ceased to function. Luckily, we bought a home owner's warranty which covers the hot water heater. The plumber assigned to us had us check the breaker on the hot water heater (I didn't know there was one) and sure enough tripping that has gotten us some hot water. The problem is, the hot water doesn't last. The plumber thinks it may be a bad element but regardless I will be burning more leave tomorrow waiting on the him. Hopefully he can do something about the slow toilet in the basement while he's at it.

I'm trying to think of something to get The Taciturn Ranger and I in the Christmas Spirit. I did get to see Santa on the fire truck tonight so that helped but I think exhaustion is playing a major role in our general feeling of bah humbug at the moment.
